Description Description The Industrial Database was established by DPTI to meet the following objectives - provide information on the use of industrial zones, show the availability of land for various industrial purposes, identify the location of various types of land for potential investors and ultimately, to ensure an adequate supply of suitably located and serviced land for industry and employment in Adelaide. The first survey was conducted in 1996. Update surveys were conducted in 2002 and 2008. In 2018 a new survey was conducted with reduced detail but still comparable with previous databases. Usage Principally the Industrial Database is intended for use as a planning tool to guide the development of industrial policy and act as input to the urban planning of the Adelaide region.

Data Quality Lineage The database includes information on all parcels that are either completely or partially contained within an industrial zone. Sites were surveyed with three different methods depending on their size. Sites smaller than 1000 m² were assigned an activity according to their parcel's corresponding land use code from the valuation data set. Sites between 1000 and 50,000 m² (5 ha) were assessed by their 2018 aerial imagery to determine whether they were vacant land, agricultural or occupied. Sites larger than 5 hectares were inspected in situ. Each record provides a detail of whether a site is vacant land, agricultural land or developed. While this database can be compared with past industrial databases to determine changes between past surveys and 2018, this database should only be used for aggregate purposes. Site extents are only 100% accurate for the sites larger than 5 hectares, as the methods for surveying the smaller sites did not involve site visits. Completeness The dataset (coverage and attributes) are complete. The data set has been fixed in time and should not be modified. Positional Accuracy 2017 DCDB edited based on field work. Parcels of land which had been divided INTO separate tenancies or strata units (and not identified on the DCDB) were digitised onto the GIS as accurately as possible to reflect the actual situation on the ground, with the help of aerial imagery.
