Description Description This dataset contains current Bushfire Management Areas (BMAs) proclaimed under Section 72 of the South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005. BMAs are used as administrative areas for bushfire management planning purposes. Each Bushfire Management Area has an associated Bushfire Management Committee (BMC) and Bushfire Management Area Plan (BMAP). BMCs and BMAPs are defined under Sections 72A and 72B of the above mentioned act. Further information is available on the Bushfire Management Planning page on the CFS website. Usage This dataset is available as open data on data.sa.gov.au.

Data Quality Lineage Bushfire Management Areas are determined by the State Bushfire Coordination Committee (SBCC) in consultation with key stakeholders. This is as determined by the Fire and Emergency Services Act (2005). BMA boundaries were initially aligned mostly to NRM boundaries and Local Government Areas. The Adelaide Metropolitan Area (area not officially gazetted) has been incorporated into the Adelaide Mount Lofty Ranges Bushfire Management Area, while awaiting the determination of the Designated Urban Bushfire Risk Area (DUBRA). Completeness Complete Positional Accuracy Spatial accuracy varies within the layer. Coastline accuracy varies from +/- 25 metres to +/= 100 metres.
