Description Description This dataset depicts land use across an area of the Adelaide Hills and northern Adelaide Plains according to the Australian Land Use and Management (ALUM) Classification Version 8. It forms part of the Australian Collaborative Land Use and Management Program (ACLUMP) land use mapping. The data extent also covers part of the South Australian Murray Darling Basin (SAMDB) Natural Resources Management (NRM) Region, abutting the area of a previous land use survey. The data were derived from an initial desktop interpretation process followed by an on-ground field survey. The desktop interpretation utilised aerial imagery of various dates ranging from 2011-14. The field survey was conducted during the period September - December 2016. Data Quality Lineage The surveyed area covers the Adelaide Hills and northern Adelaide Plains, approximating the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges (AMLR) NRM Region. The Adelaide metropolitan area as well as the northern and southern parts of the AMLR NRM Region were not included in the survey area, however the area was expanded to include a portion of the SAMDB NRM Region, adjoining the Land Use 2014 survey dataset. The state-wide Land Use 2008 dataset was used as the baseline data for the desktop interpretation process. Using aerial imagery of the survey area as a reference, each feature's geometry and attribution was edited to reflect the extent and classification of the observed land use. The edited dataset was then provided to field teams for on-ground verification. The teams visited as many features as possible, observed the land use and carried out further editing where required. After the field survey process was completed, a random subset of 1240 features were selected for independent validation to provide an accuracy estimate. Feature edits carried out during the validation process were incorporated INTO the final land use dataset. Completeness State-wide coverage is incomplete. Area mapped is not the entire AMLR NRM Region (Adelaide metropolitan area has not been mapped) Positional Accuracy Based primarily on aerial imagery and field observations. ±10 m.
