Functional Hierarchy - Major Traffic and Freight

Dataset Number 2387
Dataset Title Functional Hierarchy - Major Traffic and Freight
Status Published
Metadata Maintained by DIT RAMS

Description

Category Transport
Theme Road Network
Keywords and Qualifiers TRANSPORTATION Land
Dataset Type Spatial
Description The role of major traffic and freight routes is to cater efficiently and safely for all types of road users, for up to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These routes provide optimal travel efficiency and reliability of travel times throughout the day for heavy vehicles, especially when freight and commuter peaks coincide. Major Traffic and Freight consists of ; Priority Network Strategic Routes Freight Routes Major Local Freight Routes

Data Quality

Lineage The dataset has been compiled from the road centreline data.
Completeness 100%
Positional Accuracy Accuracy of road alignments varies throughout the coverage depending on method of capture. In general, roads captured through DCDB processes in urban areas are generally within +/- 5 metres of their true position. In rural areas the accuracy is generally within +/- 25metres. In pastoral regions sourced from Geoscience Australia the accuracy is of the order of +/- 125 metres. A program Condition data collection surveys including GPS alignments are used to improve road alignments.
