Description Category Development Theme Development Keywords and Qualifiers Dataset Type Spatial Description The Governor declared seven South Australian planning regions on recommendation of the Minister and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council on 19 March 2020. These planning regions were gazetted "No. 19 p. 548 THE SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GOVERNMENT GAZETTE - 19 March 2020". In accordance with section 5(1)(a) of the Act, the State is divided into the following planning regions, including Greater Adelaide, for the purposes of the Act: (a) Greater Adelaide; (b) Eyre and Western; (c) Far North; (d) Kangaroo Island; (e) Limestone Coast; (f) Murray Mallee; (g) Yorke Peninsula and Mid North Dataset Use Planning regions are used for regional and greater Adelaide planning strategies and other planning related matters. The planning regions referred to in subclause (1) are constituted as follows: (a) Greater Adelaide is constituted as the area defined by the plan deposited in the General Registry Office at Adelaide and numbered G16/2015 (being the plan as it existed on 1 December 2015); (b) Eyre and Western is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5845 and dated February 2020; (c) Far North is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5846 and dated February 2020; (d) Kangaroo Island is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5847 and dated February 2020; (e) Limestone Coast is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5848 and dated February 2020; (f) Murray Mallee is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5849 and dated February 2020; (g) Yorke Peninsula and Mid North is constituted as the area defined by the plan published by the Minister on the SA planning portal identified as PLN ID: 5850 and dated February 2020. Data Quality Lineage Since the regions were adopted in 2006, eight volumes of the South Australian Planning Strategy have been developed as required by the Development Act 1993: - Greater Adelaide (the Greater Adelaide Thirty Year Plan, produced in 2010 and updated in 2017) aligns with the four metropolitan Adelaide and three outer Adelaide regions adopted in 2006 (with the addition of the Rural City of Murray Bridge and excluding Kangaroo Island) - Eyre and Western (produced in 2012) aligns with the Eyre and Western region adopted in 2006 - Far North (produced in 2010) aligns with the Far North region adopted in 2006 - Yorke Peninsula (produced in 2007) and Mid North (produced in 2011) which, together, align with the Yorke Peninsula/Mid North region adopted in 2006 - Murray and Mallee (produced in 2011) aligns with the Murray and Mallee region adopted in 2006 - Limestone Coast (produced in 2011) aligns with the Limestone Coast region adopted in 2006 - Kangaroo Island (produced in 2011, with an Addendum produced in 2014) which is a shift from Kangaroo Island being part of the Fleurieu/Kangaroo Island region adopted in 2006, largely as a consequence of the Greater Adelaide 30-Year Plan boundary. While the volumes of the Planning Strategy generally follow the SA Government administrative regions there are variations as shown above: - Murray Bridge has been included in the Greater Adelaide 30-Year Plan (whilst remaining part of the Murray and Mallee volume); - Kangaroo Island has its own volume; and - Yorke Peninsula and Mid North have separate volumes despite being part of the same region.
