Description Description These tables contain water quality sampling data undertaken at various locations within the Coorong since January 1998. Water quality data was collected under the Healthy Coorong Healthy Basin Program and preceding programs by the Department for Environment and Water. Sampling is ongoing and data will be updated as it becomes available. Additional water quality data (measured by continuous monitoring sites) is also available via Water Data SA. Usage This data can be used to monitor water quality and indicate environmental outcomes/impacts at the Coorong.

Data Quality Lineage The water quality data was collated from all available water sampling reports from January 1998. Data is collected by taking water samples at each of the sites, which are appropriately stored and then transported to an accredited water quality laboratory to test for water quality parameters. Depending on the site, samples are taken from close to the shore, or by boat. A GPS is used to ensure the sampling location is accurately repeated, though the sample location may vary somewhat based on conditions, such as lagoon water depth or dredging operations at the mouth. Data collection between January 1998 and June 2019 was undertaken by the South Australian Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and processed at the Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC). This data was collated by Dr Luke Mosley (University of Adelaide) via a raw data extract from the AWQC database. Data collection under the Healthy Coorong, Healthy Basin program commenced in August 2019. Two separate laboratories (Australian Water Quality Centre [AWQC] and ALS Environmental [https://www.alsglobal.com/]) have analysed the data at various stages over the data record. All data records have been combined into a standardised template. Completeness Individual sites have been monitored for variable durations throughout the monitoring period, therefore may not contain the data for the whole period. The number of water quality parameters measured also varies between visits and sites. Blank values indicate a parameter was not measured. Refer to the CoorongWaterQualityData_FieldNames.csv lookup table for completeness of each field. Positional Accuracy Initial locations of sampling sites were captured by GPS and are therefore accurate within a few metres.
