Theme Topography
Keywords and Qualifiers LAND Topography - Mapping
Dataset Type Spatial
Description Data layer includes emergency location markers (point locations) within DEW parks. Each emergency location marker (ELM) carries an alpha numeric code made up of three letters representing the park name, and three numbers indicating a specific marker point within the park. For example BEL001 would be the first emergency location marker in Belair National Park. Emergency Location Markers may be used on park information signs at high use visitor destinations, trail head signs at entry points to trails, at regular intervals along high use trails (on trail markers every 500 metres), at locations offering higher risk activities such as mountain biking or rock-climbing or on water safety signs. NOTE: ELM's should not be used if a verifiable address or road intersection can be attributed to the location.
Dataset Use In the unfortunate event of a park visitor requiring the assistance of emergency services, it is important that they are able to provide easy to use location information to Triple Zero in order to assist the emergency services attend as quickly as possible. This dataset will be made available to the Attorney Generals Department for use within the South Australian Computer Aided Despatch (SACAD) system used by Triple Zero operators.

Data Quality

Lineage Emergency Location Marker information is recorded in a spread sheet (template) by a Project and Asset Services Officer and forwarded to the BTI Spatial Data Maintenance team. This data is then converted to spatial data and copied in to the Emergency Location Marker feature class within the Recreation Trails feature dataset.
Completeness This dataset is a work in progress. New ELM points will be added as needed, prior to the rollout of signage within selected parks.
Positional Accuracy Features are within +/- 10 metres of their true position.

Maintenance Method Emergency Location Markers are updated on advice received from Project and Asset Services Officers or trail managers within the Regional Co-ordination branch. Emergency Location Marker information is recorded in a spread sheet (template) by a Project and Asset Services Officer and forwarded to the BTI Spatial Data Maintenance team. This data is then converted to spatial data and copied in to the Emergency Location Marker feature class within the Recreation Trails feature dataset.
