Description Category Land Administration Theme Land Administration Keywords and Qualifiers BOUNDARIES Dataset Type Spatial Description The National Parks and Wildlife boundaries (Regions and Districts) are designed to align public land management with the new landscape boundaries and local government boundaries. They are used by the Department for Environment and Water to manage Public Protected Lands dedicated under the National Parks and Wildlife Act, Wilderness Protection Act and reserves for conservation purposes under the Crown Lands Act in South Australia. The Regions and Districts divide the State in a manner that allows the District Managers and Ranges to effectively manage the Public Land across the state. Dataset Use This data set can be used to show the location of the National Park and Wildlife Regions and Districts in South Australia. Data Quality Lineage The dataset was created using a comprehensive consultative process with District Mangers. Using Online viewers District Managers were able to directly mark up their desired boundries. These markups were then transferred INTO the DEW Corporate Editing environment for comprehensive and accurate digitisation using administrative and topographic data such as Local Government Areas, Suburbs and Roads. Once completed the data from the Editing environment was transferred to the DEW spatial delivery database for consumption by staff and public via direct consumption as well as online viewers.
