Description	The location and characteristics of approved aquaculture zones issued under the Aquaculture Act 2001. Aquaculture zones are underpinned by policies that promote the orderly development of aquaculture by securing access and defining where, what and how much aquaculture development can occur in State waters. Aquaculture zones provide a platform for interested parties proposing to set up aquaculture operations, reducing conflict between uses, minimising administrative processes and providing greater certainty to industry and investors. Keyboard capture from coordinate data as defined within the zone policy documents (scale independent), the best available mapping of the Mean High Water Mark coastline from DEW (nominal scale 1:50,000) and geometric buffering where relevant.

Spatial data is 100% complete and up to date. Associated attribute data is 100% complete.

Positional Accuracy

Most boundaries are constructed from lines of latitude and longitude, hence are scale independent. The accuracy of other boundaries is dependent upon the source e.g. the Mean High Water Mark coastline.
