Description Category Land Use Theme Land Use Keywords and Qualifiers LAND Use - Classification Dataset Type Spatial Description This dataset depicts land use across South Australia according to the Australian Land Use and Management (ALUM) Classification Version 8. It forms part of the Australian Collaborative Land Use and Management Program (ACLUMP) land use mapping. The dataset is a combination of land use data mapped over recent years, including 1) Land Use 2016 (Adelaide Hills and Northern Adelaide Plains). 2) Land Use 2014 (South East and SA River Murray corridor). 3) Land Use 2008 (South Australia). The data were derived from an initial desktop interpretation of aerial imagery followed by an on-ground field survey. The 2008 (ALUM V6) and 2014 (ALUM V7) data has been converted to ALUM V8 classification. The dataset is available for download from Data.SA. Data Quality Lineage The state-wide Land Use 2008 was used as the baseline data for the desktop interpretation process. Using aerial imagery of the survey area as a reference, each feature's geometry and attribution was edited to reflect the extent and classification of the observed land use. The edited dataset was then provided to field teams for on-ground verification. The teams visited as many features as possible, observed the land use and carried out further editing where required. The Adelaide metropolitan area has been excluded from mapping. This dataset will be updated when any new land use mapping is undertaken in a part of SA. Completeness State-wide coverage is complete, however Metropolitan Adelaide has not been mapped. Positional Accuracy Based primarily on aerial imagery and field observations. ±10 m.
